Other species of fir tree used as Christmas Trees
Nordmann Fir (Abies Nordmanniana) Christmas Tree
The Nordmann (sometimes known as Caucasian)
Fir is gaining in importance as a Christmas tree each year. Renowned
for its excellent needle retention, the Nordmann is a slow-growing tree
which has a very attractive shape and a glossy deep green colour.
As with all Salem Christmas Trees, the Nordmann
is grown on our Christmas Tree Farm at Salem near Llandeilo, specifically
as a Christmas tree.
The popularity of the Nordmann Fir as a Christmas
Tree will continue to grow because there are no problems with needle-drop.
This year our Nordmann Christmas Trees are available in heights from
3ft to 25ft
3ft - 12ft at £5 per foot
above 12ft at £7 per foot
Fraser Fir
This is the most popular Christmas tree in the USA with dense, highly fragrant foliage and excellent needle retention. Relatively new to the UK, they are a great alternative to Nordmann. Ideal for those who require a slimmer tree and often easier to decorate with more space between branches. Notorious for having a twist in the leader (where the fairy goes!)
We have Fraser (or Frasier) Fir Christmas Trees from 3ft to 6ft at £4 per foot
Noble Fir
has thick, soft, blue-green needles with excellent needle retention properties and a beautiful fragrance. It is native to Northern California, Oregon and Washington State, where it can grow up to 200 feet tall. The Noble fir is renowned for being the best of all trees for retaining its needles, and therefore a popular choice for some of the millions of Christmas trees that are sold in Britain each year.
We have Noble Fir Christmas Trees from 3ft to 9ft at £4 per foot
