Christmas School Visits to Salem

We have been offering trips to our Christmas Tree Farm at Salem every year to the nearby schools in Llandeilo, and they continue to return each year, making it part of their Christmas tradition. (Directions)

We begin by giving children a short, guided tour of one of the plantations to show them how our trees are grown. This can be conducted in either Welsh or English. They enjoy a run around the field, rain or shine!

The children are then invited into our Christmas cabin to meet Santa. They are offered biscuits, treats and a drink; of course the staff are offered tea, coffee, mince pies and a glass of sherry or mulled wine!!! The children can then look around at all the lovely Christmas decorations. We have a section of little gifts and decorations for the children to buy if they so wish; the children usually bring a pound or two to spend.

We like to emphasise the true meaning of Christmas and we love to hear the children sing a carol or two either in Welsh or English.

We also have a real post box outside the cabin for the children to post their letters to Santa. Any alternative ideas are welcome and we will do our best to accommodate your school.

If the children would like to bring a packed lunch they can stay here and we have heated premises under cover. We will show the children a collection of Christmas films. We also provide a little worksheet to complete either here or back at school.

When it is time to leave the children all receive a little something from Santa, and we have a box of little bits & pieces for the children to choose from.

We can accommodate around 40 children at a time; they can come either morning, afternoon or all day. Adults are free and the cost per child is £3.50.

We have ample parking and turning space for coaches and although the approach is just a country lane, a coach can access our premises without too much difficulty.

Wellies are strongly advised!!!

For those of you who haven't visited us before we do recommend you book well in advance as we had to disappoint some schools last year. Please e-mail us or telephone 01558 823569 and we will book you in. We will be open for schools from late November through December right up to the end of term.
